I once heard a saying, “The wings of the butterfly are in the wind.”

The wind is the moving of air across a surface. When even the smallest of insects flap their wings, they are moving air, in effect creating wind. Now it may not seem like much wind, but in theory if enough butterflies got together and flapped in rhythm they could create a hurricane.

Sometimes we look at the needs of the world and the number of people who don’t know Jesus and we give up in despair. What can we possibly do by ourselves?

It’s just too big a task for us to handle. None of us has the time, energy or resources to do the job.

Of course it’s too big a task. If it were simple, we wouldn’t need God to accomplish it.

Just as God doesn’t use the butterfly to generate all of the wind in the world, He doesn’t expect us personally to tell every person about Him and rescue each person in need. He does call us to be faithful and do our part.

In the wind He creates, are the molecules set in motion by the butterfly. In His plan to tell a hurting world about the hope through Him, are the efforts of each of us.

One of the most awesome promises of the Bible is

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.                                 2 Chronicles 7:14-16

If those who believe will repent and call on God, He will transform the world. The winds of change are preparing to blow, will you do your part by turning back to Him in fervent, faithful, repentant prayer?

Until next time, may the gentle winds created by your prayers, become part of the transforming wind of change from God.

God bless.
