Waiting
in Vain?
Most Christians have a desire for other people to have a relationship with
Jesus. Some are more passionate about it than others are.
For some it’s
sort of a warm fuzzy, I wish you knew Jesus, that never manifests itself into
action. Others are zealous missionaries who will literally be martyred for their
faith.
We gather in
worship and pray for the "lost", that they will recognize their
brokenness, repent of their sin and seek Jesus.
I wonder
sometimes, if the non-Christian world is waiting for the Christians to admit
their own brokenness and repent.
It’s true
that as believers we are forgiven of our sin. It is also true that when we walk
in unrecognized sin, or under our own power, there are barriers between us and
God. Our walk and our witness are hampered.
Let’s be
honest, most of us harbor some resentment, some bitterness, some hidden sin.
There is a reason that God promises to heal the land if His people repent.
If my people,
who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and
turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their
sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to
the prayers offered in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 NIV
The world
watches, waiting for us to be the people God has called us to be. Will they wait
in vain, or will we lead the way in repentance and holiness?

next time, may Holy Spirit convict us of the cobwebs in our own houses before we
try and tell someone else to clean theirs.
