There is a spiritual truth that so many "Christians" miss and the way you know they miss it is to hear them talk. This great truth is in the power of our words. Most people who wonder why the Lord doesn't promote them or use them  in certain areas are not conscious of their words and the effect they have in moving the spirit realm to comply with what we say.

Here are a few scriptures that show you the importance of our words:

Proverbs 6:2- thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
KJV

Proverbs 15:2-  the tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
KJV

Proverbs 18:7- a fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
KJV

Proverbs 29:20- seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
KJV

Matthew 12:37-  for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
KJV

Words are powerful things. They have the ability to create and destroy. They have the ability to fuel the human mind to greatness or depravity. With words you can communicate images and ideas.

The words we use can hurt or heal. I thinks that's why James was so blunt in speaking about the power of the tongue.

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

James 3:3-12 NIV

Do your words make peace and heal wounds? Or do they wreak havoc and destruction leaving division, hurt feelings and chaos behind? Do you words tell truth or lies? Do they build up or tear down?

Can a stranger identify you as a disciple of Jesus Christ by what comes out of your lips or would he simply think you're just another person of the world? "It's just another saying"might work for the world but when you are an ambassador of God, your words could get someone killed and it might be you!

Be careful!

Change your words or your words will change you,

Does your mouth give your heart away?

For out of the abundance of Your heart, Your mouth speaks!

Be blessed
