The
Willows
As I was driving by a house I noticed some willow trees of which I had not seen in a few years. It brought back a memory of a willow tree we had as a child when I was growing up in West Texas.
I remember this tree not being affected by drought than many of the trees around it, simply because it was rooted near a source of water. This willow was much more resilient than the neighboring trees because of where it was planted.
Have you ever noticed that some people seem more resilient in tough times than others? No matter what the adversity, some people seem to find comfort and joy in their circumstances.
Perhaps it is because of where they are rooted;
This
is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on
flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. He will be like
a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He
will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one
lives. But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is
in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by
the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It
has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit
Jeremiah 17:5-8
Are you rooted in a trust of the Lord? Or are you trusting other people, your job, your financial safety net or one of a thousand other places susceptible to drought?
If your trust is in Him, you can withstand any storm or drought. He will bring comfort, peace and joy. If you are trusting in something or someone else perhaps it is time to change your thinking and get replanted.
Until next time, may you be firmly rooted near the source of Living Water.
God
bless.
