Shooting
Stars
I
sat out back of the house late into the night. I was there praying and just
enjoying the peace and quiet. AS quickly as it came it went and I found myself
watching one of the most amazing meteor showers I have seen in a while.
Just
as one "shooting star" faded, another would hit the atmosphere. The
sky was ablaze. At times two or three meteors would be burning at the same time,
leaving their distinctive but brief mark in the heavens.
I
imagine that if I had never heard of shooting stars, it would have been easy to
think the very heavens themselves were collapsing and the stars were burning up.
Yet, I knew that wasn't the case because while the meteors filled the sky, the
other stars remained never changing in their regular tour of the night sky.
Our
lives can be like that night. We can get so busy looking at the transient events
that we panic. Instead of being overwhelmed by the events that burn themselves
out, we need to look to the eternal, the unchanging. We need to look to God,
creator of heaven and earth.
He
was there in the beginning.
In
the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 NIV
He
will be there in the end.
"Behold,
I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to
what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the
Beginning and the End.
Revelation 22:12-13 NIV
He
never changes.
Jesus
Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever Hebrews 13:8 NIV
No
matter what changes you face in life (and there will be many), no matter what
life throws at you focus on the unchanging one and let Him be your anchor and
your guide.
Be
blessed
