And
Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight
with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.” But
David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when
a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and
struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose
against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your
servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be
like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” Moreover
David said, “The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the
paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” 1
Samuel 17:34-37
David
was able to fight Goliath, because God had helped him overcome the lion and then
the bear! He even learned that if it rose up against him, with God’s help, He
could conquer it! The giant would be no different.
Sometimes
God increases our faith by allowing an increase of troubles to come our way.
Through each trial and trouble, our faith can grow.
We
can begin to see that if God did that, then He can do this!
If
God’s word worked last time, It will work this time!
He
takes us through circumstances and experiences so we can gain new experiences.
Even if the enemy brought a trial to us to cause us destruction, God will
use it to give us instruction! Instead of trying to figure a way out of
troubles, we should figure a way to get something out of troubles.
There
will always be someone to discourage your faith just as Saul tried to convince
David that he could not go against the Philistine because he was only a youth.
But…David was a boy of experience. In our ministry, we have a saying: A man
with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument! For example,
there are many teachings on whether tithing is old covenant and required today.
Both sides have scripture to back up their positions. I lean on experience! I
have many testimonies about how tithing has worked in my life, and no man
arguing with me can change my mind or convince me otherwise. I choose to tithe,
because I know it works by experience! Ask someone who has been healed by the
power of God if God still heals today! You will not be able to change his mind.
He has experienced the healing power of Jesus! If you want to learn about the
gifts of the spirit, ask someone who operates in them and has experience moving
in the spirit not someone who has read about them and formed their own opinion.
If I want to learn something new, I want a teacher with experience not just
knowledge. Of course the Holy Spirit is the best teacher!
As
God sees we are growing, He is able to give us larger places of experience and
ministry that will move us from faith to faith.
For
in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is
written, “The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17
What
has God done for you in the past? He will also help you conquer what giant
stands in front of you today. Take the faith you have and build on it! Live by
faith today!
