“And the sacrifice was brought. The priest laid hands upon its head and through the sacrifice the men were cleansed of sin.” The sacrifice was to be the best of the flock, it was an ugly ritual but one that God ordained; that only the blood of the spotless could take away the sins of man, the hurt, the guilt, the pain. Yes salvation by substitution.
The sacrifice dying in place of the man, what mercy God allowed for his love to show forth instead of making man stand in judgment for his sins, for his own life, for his own mistakes. Yes, we can’t come to God on the basis of our own merit and works. To try to do so would bring about the justice and death we deserve. We can never attain salvation on the merit of our lives.
So
this sacrifice was brought, the atonement for us; to live, to begin again, to
have another chance to gain God’s favor by letting the sacrifice die for us.
So now having laid hands on the head; the man must wash himself clean.
To look in the mirror of God to see himself despicable and dirty.
So through the ages the lambs were brought thousands, millions dying.
Now once again God in his mercy and favor of this sinful man that we are; has brought about the sacrifice. The sacrifice of his only son given for the millions of pathetic despondent sinners who seek to avoid God’s wrath. But instead the perfect “Lamb of God” was brought. The most spotless sinless and lasting sacrifice ever to be made. A once and for all atonement of man, for you, for me, for us so we don’t have to stand in the wrath of an angry God to answer for all our mistakes and transgressions. Transgressions against our loved ones, against our one only true God who seeks to have us clean, free from all sin, doubt, and worry, turmoil, degradation and self-destruction.
So once again the sacrifice is brought, brought to a horrible, painful death for us; brought to a death so we may live. So now the sacrifice is here, the one, the only, the true Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. So now what have you done with him; this Jesus of Nazareth, the lamb who is dying for you? Have you laid your hands on his head and admitted it was for your sin that he is dying? Have you let his death be your death to sin? To atone for you so that you may have salvation, everlasting life. Do you believe in accepting Jesus through faith that no other sacrifice of life could ever save your soul?
Now having touched him in repentance, have you washed in the blood of the lamb, daily, continually coming to be refreshed to be washed as white as snow?
Jesus is waiting, looking, and longing for you in the line of sinners.
Millions have come to the cross but there is a spot he saved.
A spot for you!
A spot only you can have by coming today and touching Jesus Christ for the salvation and atonement meant for you.
Won’t you come though your sins be as scarlet;
Jesus can wash you clean forever, only through his blood; the blood of this one and only Lamb of God. *6
