Cry
Out to the Lord
Then
they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their
distresses.
Then
they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their
distresses. He brought them out of
darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.
Then
they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their
distresses. He sent His word and
healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
Ps
107:6, 13-14, 19-20
When
you find yourself in trouble, what do you do? Do you eat chocolate? Do you go
back to bed? Do you call your best friend? Do you call your spouse? Do you call
your mom? Too often we search for immediate comfort or escape.
We
need to call out to the Lord for help! Have you ever heard the story of the
Christian that said, “I’ve tried everything! It is time to pray.” His
friend said in return, “Oh no! Has it come to that?!” Sometimes we try
everything and exhaust all effort in our own strength.
Our
help is not found in what we can do.
John 15:5-6 says, “He who abides in Me,
and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
Our help is found in the Lord alone! Therefore, let us look to our only
source of help. I will lift up my eyes to the hills
— From whence comes my help? My
help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
Psalms 121:1-2
Cry
out to Him in all things.
When
you can’t find your keys—cry out to the Lord.
When
your to do list is longer than the hours in your day—cry out to the Lord.
When
your child is not living the life you raised him to live—cry out to the Lord.
When
your marriage is falling apart at the seams—cry out to the Lord.
When
your doctor speaks a bad report over your health—cry out to the Lord.
When
you find yourself battling your flesh and feel like you’re losing—cry out to
the Lord.
When
the enemy has you in bondage—cry out to your Savior who shed His blood for
your freedom—plead the Blood—cry out to the Lord God Almighty, who made
heaven and earth!
For
some problems, we just need to utter, “Lord help me.” or “Lord I need your
help.” Other times we need to get on our faces with tears flowing from our
eyes admitting our inability to help ourselves and cry out from the anguish in
our souls. He does hear us. He will answer when we call. Isaiah 30:19 says, “He
will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, He will
answer you.”
Don’t
wait until you are without hope to call out. Don’t think He’s too busy to
handle your little problems. Don’t continue in anxiety any longer. Philippians
4:6-7 tells us, “Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication , with thanksgiving, let your requests be
made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
The
dictionary definition for supplication means a humble request for help from
someone in authority. Is Jesus Christ the Lord of your life? That gives Him
authority over you and your circumstances. He is the One whence comes your help! Humble
yourself, cry out for help and receive peace today.
